Im looking to power a small (Cradlepoint) portable WiFi router in my glove compartment.
It has a battery pack & wall charger so I can go 1 of 2 ways.
Obviously I want to stay D/C so theres no conversion.
Does anyone have a clean install with pictures on how to drop power to the glove box?
I can either terminate it in a female cig lighter adapter (would give me more future possibilities), of simply dedicate the line to a spliced car charger for the router.
Safety is also a concern.
Any / all input is welcome. Thanks.

you have a cig lighter port already in the foot well. Great place to tap for power.

Good idea.
Do you know:
1. If I split off that, does it reduce the total power output for each. ie: If I take 1 port & split it into 2, do I get 1/2 the power at each port now?
2. Any suggestions on how to get to that power port best? any DIY links for that?

You just need to know what amperage is available from any source you connect to and how much you plan to consume.

I serisouly doubt that adding something as small as a portable wifi router to either the cigaretter lighter or glove box battery circuit will cause problems. You can still keep the OEM glove box flashlight plugged in.
