Hey Guys. So wanted to get your take on my ongoing mods. I just dropped my ride off to get the mtech kit slapped on (thanks trinity) and stopped by my rim guy to take a look at my next purchase. As I was talking to him I mentioned dropping the 528i and he strongly objected. The guy is extremely knowledgeable and basically dominates the rim business in South Florida and has a reality show coming out on VH1 about his bizz. He says it will change up the ride way to much and could mess up other stuff. He has an M6 and says he dropped the ride for business reasons but liked the car 1000% more pre drop. So what do you guys think? He advised me to wait after we do the rims and see if I like the look before I decide to drop it. The car does have the sport package so does that mean it sits a little lower then a regular BMW? Does anyone have 20" on a sport package BMW that has NOT been dropped? I would love to see pics. I just don't want to go and drop money on something that will put me worse off. The guy has nothing to gain from me not dropping the ride since I would probably do through him so you know...Again, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to car mods so all help is appreciated. Thanks again!

Hi

I think what your wheel guy means is that when you drop the car it will rarely have the ride quality of stock car; after all, your suspension was built exactly for your make and model. In terms of messing up stuff did he say what stuff specifically? If you only replace the springs w/o shocks, the shocks will wear pre-maturely overtime because the springs weren't made for them.

Here are pictures on my 545i w/ 20" wheels before I installed coilovers. I have sports suspension.

I actually didn't think it was too bad. Hopefully I was helpful. BTW, what wheels are you going to get?

if you are going to lower your car, do it right and get coilovers, that way you can adjust the height accordingly..

myfootsmells sells Cross coilovers

pm member MacFly, Trinity Autosport, or Nerweezy for KW V2 coilovers

***your wheels guy should know of both these coilover brands...did he even suggest coilovers?

and yes, sport pkg sits a bit lower than non sport pks's....GL

Do you have any rubbing issues with that setup? Did you roll your fenders?

If I get coil covers does that mean I don't need to get springs? Sorry if it's a stupid question just not sure. I just noticed that coil covers are a lot more expensive then springs lol.
