does it have to be a dealer software thing? I've looked in the I drive menu and can't find a way to do it there, but am currently minus my manual and need help. Thanks in advance. Got to get these cheesy things turned off ASAP!

Unfortunately, I think that it's something that we can't do in North America. I remember seeing a post a while ago where someone was able to activate or deactivate their DRLs but I think we discovered that they were not in North America.
My theory was that they are required in Canada and optional in the US so the dealer needs to set it up so that Canadians can't disable them (E60 uses the same software in US and Canada, I think...)
One thing I found interesting the other day as I was driving an E90 loaner car was that I was able to turn the DRLs on or off myself. Maybe for the E90 the software is different for Canada or maybe my theory above is false and it's just not doable on the E60?

It's also on the iDrive-less E90 using the MID between the speedo and tach.
No frustrations for me though -- I have them deactivated and don't wish to ever activate them...

When I first got my car, I paid about $90 to get them activated. Then when I got my aux input installed, the software crashed and after they reloaded, the DRLs went away. I was about to bring it back to get it reactivated when I found out that if I only wanted my angel eyes on (parking light switched to on), the DRLs will also stay on. So I never got them turned back on. My white AngeliBrights would probably look funny with those yellowish DRLs.
