Hi all I posted part of this thread in the introduction forum for I am a new member Don't think too many people read that forum lol.. Anyways just wanted to get some opinions from some fellow 5er fanatics.. I drive an 07 Alpine White 530i with M-tech aero kit and m5 wheels.. LOVING IT!! So far I have replaced all the speakers with Focal componets and have two 12" JL audio w6v2s in the trunk.. I piss off all my neihbors I am planning to tint the windows, get some rims, lower the car a bit, and get a AC Schnitzer roof and trunk spoiler:

I'm getting them with as big of a step lip as possible 5 inch anybody? in the back and most likely a 2" in the front.

Those DPEs will look awesome. But do you mean straight lip instead of step lip?

 

Maybe things are different on the other Coast, but those rims look like the kind of trashy bling kids put on their Hondas to make them look civilized, and fail miserably.

 

It seems like straight lips are more common, my friend had a 7 series with DPE rims and they had a step on them; they looked amazing so thats what I was planning on? you think straight would look better?

 

Whoa harsh locksmyth lol those rims are custom made 3 peice forged rims not too cheapy.. but hey everyone is entitled to their opinon. Every car I have seen with DPE's on them has looked amazing

 

I understand where you're coming from and I've seen lots of Hondas or Japanese imports with similar wheels but by similar, I'm only referring to the fact that they're multi-spoke and black or charcoal colored. In reality, if you look at DPE wheels, they're great quality sport wheels, true 3-piece forged wheels custom made to order and can run about $5K-$6K. I don't think you'll find too many Honda owners sporting these wheels....maybe I'm wrong. I've seen a lot of BMWs with these wheels and IMO, they look very sporty and inline with the performance dynamics of a BMW.

I just know stepped lip wheels look smaller than straight lip wheels so I guess it's your choice. I personally think straight lip wheels have cleaner lines... Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with those wheels. Good luck!
