I have had my e60 for 3 weeks now and I am not sure it has ever gone into sleep mode and I think it is starting to have an effect on my battery. The orange LED next to "P" never goes off. I am trying to isolate what is causing that. I have removed all accessories from adapter outlets except for the my hardwired radar detector and 2point5 ipod dock. The ipod is not docked so it shouldn't be drawing power and the radar detector turns off when I turn the car off so I don't know if it is that either.
Any ideas?

if the off-load current exceeds 80ma, it will prevent the sleep mode. do both of the items turn off on the first press of the eng button or second? disconnect the radar and/or ipod to isolate the cause. these cars are very finicky with electronics.

The same thing with the LED on my car. I believe it's normal.

Just went to check out my car and the light is off so I assume it is in sleep mode. This was the first time that I unplugged the radar detector in this investigation so that is the cause. I'm going to contact the installer to have it fixed. What exactly is the wiring issue that needs to be corrected?

If you are powering anything that continues to draw power then it must be connected to a T30G output and not a normal T30. The T30G is switched power that goes to sleep with the car. Ofcourse you can always used a T15 like the lighter socket which is powered only when the engine is running.
