I believe they're for looks. The M Tech kit has two removable covers on each side of the grill, next to the brake ducts. If your car has Active Cruise Control, you can buy a cover that actually has a hole to frame the sensor for the ACC. I'm guessing he got two of those pieces.

Then again, maybe he did some custom work to make use of those inlets...

What do you mean by RETRO FIT BMW PRO NAV? Do you mean you actually put a new Pro Nav system in? HOW!!!!!!!!
