my current setup is 123s with all-seasons, but I want to move toward having a summer and a winter setup. Wanted to keep the 123s as the winter setup, but saw these Hamanns for a good price and now thinking to get them as a winter setup. My two fears are that they'll look small and that their design may not work that great with the E60 - or at least not as great as the 123's does. What do you guys think?

These are Hamann HM2's 18x8.5 square setup with ET38 offsets all around. Offsets are great - they'll sit almost completely flush

All Mercedes spare wheels are black and this design, that`s why a wouldn`t go for them.

an 18x8.5 et38 will sit far from "completely flush" on an e60, infact it will probably hit the strut in the front.

Edit: Just saw that your car might be an xi, in which case, not sure how flush those offsets will be. On a RWD E60, they will be pretty tucked.

Xi's offsets are ET43 on 18x8 style 123's that I have - sure you can do the math in your head.

Another thing to consider is that the Xi wheels - besides having these offsets - tend to sit deeper. I have 12.5mm spacers in the back and I might end up using those as well.

Good point on the M-B spare design, Protams - that is a really good point, I didn't think of it.

If I am interpretting this correctly, you are saying that XI wheels sit further in from the fender than a normal RWD e60? If this is the case then, you should need a lower offset than et38 to be flush with the fender. FWIW, I am running 20x9.5 et -2 in the rear of my 530i and it is just about flush, so if an XI sits deeper, then you would need an even lower offset.

We've discussed Xi offsets many times on this forums (actually, I have a whole thread dedicated to the Xi offsets, wheels and suspension).

But yes, you're understanding it correctly. RWD E60's offsets are ET20 stock, and there's some room there, so you can go more aggressive. On Xi, the offsets are, as I said, ET43 for the 8in wide wheels, and there's some space to play with on the outer side of the wheel (where the fender is). People that have gotten offsets nearly flush on Xi, ran setups close or equal to the following: 19x8.5 ET30 fronts and 10x9.5 ET33 rears - this is nearly flush. Of course, I'm sure you know about the offset calculators etc.

M offsets won't work, gotta get the non-m e46 wheels. These were a pretty good deal and local, so I was thinking about them.

You guys wanna see what my car looks like with the 123s?
