Went down to see DMS on Friday to get the 535d remapped. Nice folk, took about 60mins while I caught up with some work (they have wifi internet) and drank their coffee.
Initial impressions are great. It's almost like the difference between the Power button on/off in my old M6. The car feels more lively throughout the rev range, and above 2,000rpm you can really feel the increase in torque through the shove in the back when accelerating. Drove back via a convenient autobahn (!) and the car was still pulling near what should have been the old limit. Accelerating you really do get the "world going backwards" feeling that I used to have in P500 mode.
In short, I can only echo what everyone else says about this upgrade: if you have a 535d then it's a must. The car now feels almost as fun as the M6 with a shedload more practicality and fuel consumption.

So you wouldnt go back to the M6 then?
Im considering the reverse to situation to you and thinking of changing my 535d for an M6.
Am I likely to be dissapointed?

The 535d is more practical, effectively as fast on most south of England roads (i.e. those with plenty of traffic) and has pretty much the same toys. And I get >40mpg on the motorway and >28mpg around town. I would have preferred an SMG gearbox on the 5, but the mountain of torque+auto box is a good combination.
On the right roads, with a bottomless wallet and with convenient petrol stations the M6 is a truly great car. But I'd never go back.

I sure wished I'd never read this thread. Have been humming and ahhing whether to go down the dms route for ages. It's a question of the missus now :-p How long did you go before DMS, for e.g , i've had mine since 7,000 miles now and am upto 16k now. Is it worth a dms now?
Unbelievable that mpg increases too, stunning. Is this the new remap, i.e 343bhp?
Sorry for the questions, am nearly there. Presume ?800 all in?
Cheers,

........I doubt that; steptronic is one of the most useless things I've come across in my E60. Whereas SMG (as sampled on an M3) is real seat of the pants stuff.
