That's why it's best to take the trim off an vinyl wrap around the edges of the trim so at least it will have some slack for shrinking and the rubber seals will actually help hold the trim down so it won't peel.
+100...I think it's worth saving up about $240 and get the original thing and get it over with.

If you've got the $200, I would go with the replacement pieces from BMW.. Seems like a safer option than the vinyl. I would be afraid of nicking the paint with the vinyl or air bubbles/contaminates getting under their and it looking like crud...

Add to that, the vinyl isn't durable. If you take a finger nail and run it along the vinyl with some pressure, it will make a mark on the vinyl and will stay there permanently.
