DIY Msport steering wheel retrofit
I've used the search function. I need guidance on this retrofit please
I have bought the following parts and hope this is all I need for a steering wheel retrofit to a 2003 SE:-
Pic 1: Post 2005 airbag with extra pre 2005 cable

Pic 2: Pre 2005 sport steering wheel with no thumbs. In very good condition

Pic 3: Pre 2005 sport steering wheel bare with thumbs. So wear, would benefit from a retrim

Pic 4: Post 2005 sport steering wheel with thumbs in very good condition

From my research my plan is to use the steering wheel in pic 3, swap the airbag mounting plates from pic 4. Swap the purple wire from the airbag plug to the empty pin and add an additional wire which plugs into the silver airbag mounting plate.
Is this correct people in the know? Any advise is appreciated

D, after swaping the wire to the empty slot, you will also need to trim the harness to fit into the Steering wheel module. It is very simple. You just need to cut off one of the small flanged edges on the harness.

Airbag with wire is for horn on a post 2005 Steering Wheel.
Why is this wire not present in my post 2005 airbag and steering wheel?
Do I need it?"
_______________________________
D, I'm am not sure why this wire is not included with your airbag, but you should be able to use any wire of same guage for the mounting plate horn wire.
(Pics were provided to me by member Benand)
This is what your harness for the post 2005 airbag should look like.

You will need to move the Purple wire over to the empty pin slot.
Then, add a wire in the pin position that the purple wire was moved from.
You will need to connect the wire you added to the silver mounting plate that will go behind your airbag.
Below you will find a pic of where the harness to the air bag needs to be modified.

You can easily snip off the flanged edge of the harness to allow it to fit accordingly to the steering wheel module.
Below is a pic of how the airbag harness is seated in the steering wheel module.
