I am looking to get the Dinan Throttlebody however I am a bit confused about the price. On Dinan's website it said that the price for the part was $599. What got me confused was the section about the exchange price of $325 refundable core deposit required. Anybody know what that means? And how much does it cost for the installation of the throttlebody, how many hours of labor does it take to install the part? Thanks!

"Part #: D760-3600
Price: $599.00
Labor Units: 8.0
Emission Status: 49 State Emission Legal
Special Notes: Exchange Price; $325.00 Refundable Core Deposit Required.
Peak Horsepower Gain: 8 @ 5500 rpm
Peak Torque Gain: 8 lb/ft @ 5500 rpm
Point Value: 2 "
The Dinan site is confusion on this point. The, price, unfortunately, is $599--and it is $599 + $325 if you keep your original throttle body.
Thanks for the info. I didn't think it could be that cheap for a Dinan throttlebody ($599 - $325). So does anyone know how much it would cost for the install? And for those that have the throttlebody on their 545i, do you feel any difference in power/torque?
Regarding install costs, it say 8.0 units (hours) and Dinan charges $115/hour.
As I recall, that means 8/10($115) = $92. $92 rings a bell.

As my teenage kids would say...my bad...

Ok...I'll age myself...

As Johnny Carson used to say, "that is correct, sir!"

I think I've heard about this Johny Carson from the History Channel...hahaha j/k

So, I'm still curious what 49 State legal mean. Anyone have any idea? Guess I'll just call Dinan tomorrow.

I think it means that it is supposed to satisfy the emission standards in the 49 states, but I definitely am not positive. I think it is illegal in CA, but would never be detected since it is hidden. The only problem is that an after-market part could cause a car to fail a sniff test in CA or even in some state where it is legal. On new cars in AZ, there cannot be a problem, for 5 years as I recall, since such cars don't actually have to be sniff tested during that period. And, not many of us Zonies probably keep our cars for more than 5 years. I don't know about you Fornies. ~{;^)

Well, $92 for the install is pretty damn good I'd say, since it must be a pretty easy install if it's only $92. I wouldn't mind investing in the throttlebody since I've got the exhaust already and I'm also planning on getting a CAI when one is available as well as getting my car chipped, probably with Upsolute (not sure yet, still looking at my various chipping options). Everything added up, should give the car a good boost.

How long have you had the Dinan exhaust on your 545i? How do you like it? Any sound clips? They don't have it in stock yet at the Dinan HQ!

My mistake, I don't have the Dinan exhaust, I have the Eisenmann quad exhaust.
And yes, once you catch the car bug it just won't go away!
