The exhaust has a way better sound than stock. Just reving the engine withou load does not do it justice. My buddy with a viper told me my car sounded like a race car when I came blasting down the street. Someone has to get a clip of the exhaust under acceleration.
Black, the whole exhaust is long 4 metres, from kat under the engine to rear bumper : changing the last 80 cm doesn0t change the sound

If that's the case, both Supersprint and Hamann are truely money waster
Ats, help!

Exactly, SS and Hamann are worse .
But the problem is that with a good exhaust you gain HP, with those ridicolous muffler you gain 3 HP .

Anyway, with those final mufflers the engine is still corked like a bottle as with stock muffler .

Alex, you're way off. Mufflers do affect the sound. I have the Dinan exhaust and I know it's night and day from stock and sounds very sporty. Others have heard my exhaust as well and they can vouch that it's not anything close to stock. Horsepower wise, I do agree that there's not much to be gained from a muffler replacement. The most significant gains would come at a complete modification to the manifold/headers, cats and of course piping and muffler.

I nominate you for the sound clip. I agree, would love to hear the exhaust under load.

please

Do you have an exhaust to even tell me that changing the muffler does not affect the sound.

Have you seen the difference between the stock double can muffler to any of the straight through mufflers?

Are you just listening to audio clips on the internet because like I said before audi clips do not do this mod any justice not just for a Dinan exhaust but for all companies.

The same of stock exhaust : $1300 for having the same sound ...
The sound clip is clearly do no justice. That's why I always say that I want to listen to Hamann, RDS, Dinan, SS, Eisenman, etc in person and compared. So far, from sound clips posted on this forum, I found Airflow's RDSport sounds best to my ears and I really love that sound. But, I need to listen in person and drive in the car to hear how sound level affect driver and passengers in cabin at load especially in D and climbing the hill

Can anyone distinguish between JetBlack, Carbon Black, and Black Sapphire from pics posted on forum? You don't have to answer this question, but you know what I mean. See and listen in person in order to judge correctly.

Sorry vegastrashed, no dynos were done on my car per Dinan's reps. I found that a bit odd. I wonder where they get their numbers from??? Before I leave with my car next week, I'll be sure to ask for some concrete numbers.
If Dinan does not provide you dyno numbers you should take it to a dyno shop. I'll be heading up to the Bay Area for work soon so maybe we can do a group dyno day. I know that EuroCarFan would be interested as well. Anyway, your Dinan tuned 550i should be dynoing greater than 306 whp = ((360 fwhp * 15%(6speed & SMG, 20% for Step) drive-train loss) - 360). If you are at 314 whp that would equate to 370 fwhp = (314 whp / .85). Hopefully, your dyno number is in excess of 325 whp = 382 fwhp.

Fred, I think the best thing is replace ALL from headers to down : kat and all exhaust .
EUR 2000 of job, but you gain dozens of HP .
imho
