And from now there is also a E60 4-cyl 520i with 170 PS. Can't be very nice.

The 520i became a 6-cylinder engine in the E28 (6cyl 2.0). It then became a slightly more powerful 6cyl 2.0 in the E39, followed by a 6cly 2.2, also in the E39. The 523i has almost always been a 6cyl 2.5.

The E34 518i had 115 hp. 
Not too bad for that time but the 0-100 would come at around 11-12 seconds.Not too good for that big of a car.

E34 518i had 115bhp and o-60mls is 12.4s.
