no i have the Dension icon, i am filming a DIY how to install video on wednesday, and a little work around, any questions on it, let me know.

my car is not a euro model, that dension installer doesnt know what hes talking about UNLESS he is confused about getting the TV to show up on the menu, but the dension comes with a TV enabler. so it programs the car for you and also does the video in motion.

feel free to ask any questions, but the DIY video im shooting wednesday will cover the whole install

 

It would be good if you could include or do a separate video functionality and use of it.

I am looking for an iPod integration kit (already have factory bluetooth) and not sure what to go for. The price of the OEM BMW retrofit is making me look at other options. I noticed on your GROM video that it stopped working so that has been pushed down the list.

 

i just uploaded a video yesterday on the dension gateway 500s bt install and how to use, and i love it. works really good, you cant use both the icon and gateway, so i choose the gateway mainly because the icon wont work with my iphone 5 (video out like album art, screen stays blank but sound works, but pointless with a black screen), if i had an iphone 4/4s it would be pretty good to use. so mainly just installing to film the video. with the iphone 4/4s, pandora and spotify album art works.

I have already watched most if not all the videos on your channel, the head mount/POV camera is a good idea, too bad it is not used by more people doing instal/DIY videos.

The Dension looks good, its just that it seems pricey just for ipod interface. I already have factory bluetooth and and not interested in streaming audio from my phone etc.

Did you ever get the Grom unit fixed?.

 

I would recommend to retrofit the aux input in that case. Would a lot cheaper than a dension/grom

 

The from just needed a firmware update and worked great. I use a gropro hero3 with a head mount. Thanks for the feedback on the video plan to keep making them so any suggestions for DIY, let me know.

But if your not interested in all that fancy stuff, a aux input is the most reliable and cheapest method. By reliable I mean with every unit I've used and tested always have their hiccups. Aux will always work fine.

 

My car already has aux input which is what I use now, its getting old having to dig out the ipod to play or pause music. I don't like anything attached to the dash/console so I keep the ipod under the driver's seat.

Something that allows control of even basic playlists from the idrive and stops starts the ipod when I switch car on and off would be preferable. I can live without text display and search features.

Something like the Soundplicity II from bavsound looks like it would fit the bill, but they aren't sold over here and I would want tech support/warranty/refund in case of any "hiccups"

 

Bavsound does not make the Soundplicity, they use Grom Audio products and put their own stickers on them.
Plenty of Grom Audio products from eBay.co.uk from the official UK distributor
If you want proper playlist etc, the only choice is Dension though on the E6x
Grom Audio and Fiscon products etc are not as good as the Dension.
