Dension GW500 AVR Pics revealed
#1
For all those who like me are waiting for the AVR unit (add on to the Gateway 500), you'll be pleased to know that the release date is getting closer.
Dension have have just launced a new website (www.dension.com) with pics of the AVR unit.
For those who are wondering what this is....this is an add on to the GW500 that will allow you watch video on your Idrive screen. Thw AVR will emulate a TV tuner on the car which will enable you to control video via you idrive/steering wheel.
The only issue with this is that if you dont have a TV tuner, then you will need to get BMW to enable the option in order to use this device.
No official release date yet. Dont know if member GW500 can provide a date and cost for us. Cant wait to try this out......

I have TV from factory: with this module would I be able to watch mpg, avi etc. from the USB stick on the idrive screen? Without ACM?
Thanks!

As far as I know, the info seems to suggest at this point the unit will only support Ipod video. However, the site also indicates that you can have multiple video sources running thru it. So you can have a video source running on your idrive screen and a seperate video source going to a rear screen. This prob means they are planning on supporting other video sources. Fingers crossed.
