Dension Gateway 500 Ipod connection

My Ride: 2005 530i Individual, DVD Package, HUD, Bluetooth, Comfort Seats, SR, etc
ok i have a 2005 February Production vehicle with CD Changer /No Nav/ vehicle. Head Unit cannot play MP3. Will the GW500 work in mine?

Hey Folks,
I just bought a 2004 530i for my wife (late 2003 build date) and I was doing a LOT of reading here about the bluetooth/TCU/ipod integration issues.
We would really like to integrate the iPod and the Dension 500 looks like a slick solution and it looks like there is even a Bluetooth add-on as well.
I'm just curious if it will work with the car. I checked the compatibility chart on the Dension site, but I'm not sure what head unit is in the car. It's obviously an iDrive, with AM/FM/CD. It also has Sat Radio Prep and CD Changer Prep. I don't think the CD has MP3 compatibility.
Is anyone else in my boat? I would love to hear some solutions.
My wife isn't really technically savy, so the simplest solution (even if it is more costly) would probably be best.

Question guys: how does the random feature work on the dension. does the random feature look over the entire medium (say 16gb usb stick) or just in specific lists (such as playlists or music types/groups as itunes likes to sort it...

My Dension works, all hdd and usb or Ipod but as I have no MASK with CIP 25 I have no text function.
Random works in a folder= GW500 takes the folders as "CD in a changer", so but you can also change the feature to scan entire hdd or usb drive etc.
Dension told me that if CIP 27 comes out for non MASK but Prof Radio like mine with Mp3 playing capability there may be a chance for the text function to work... we will see. thx

Finally got my Gateway 500 installed after having to get the progman updated on my car first. Really pleased with how well it works - browsing the iPod using the iDrive is quicker than browsing a MP3 CD. I can post some shots of the video out if people want to see it (or any other screens), sadly I don't have it hooked up to the screen in the dash yet, waiting till I can get it to bypass the screen blanking > 5 mph.

Video is an extra module (costs about ?30) that goes inline with the input from the iPod, gives you composite out and a matched phono output. They also do a bluetooth module that also plugs inline that lets you stream music from compatible mobile phones.
Currently I'm going to run this to the removable screens that my kids use, but medium term its going to go to the dash as well, long term I'm going to get the kids screens properly mounted into the rear of the front seats.

Perhaps I missed seeing a post about this but:
- What are the differences between BMW's iPod integration module and Denison's?
- What are the strengths of each?
- Has anyone explored the mObridge product?

According to the Web page, the mObridge:
- Allows local use of your iPod, unlike the Denison and I presume the BMW option as well
- Does not have a 250 song/folder limit like BMW's option
- Appears to have more compatibility across all E60 variants
- Does not appear to offer an external video out like the Denison
I'm not a proponent of any of these options but would like to determine which is the best option for me.
