Guys, i've had Dension Gateway 500 installed, and it's simply awesome paired with iPod.

However, for some reason it does not see the attached USB devices (flash stick nor HDD). They power up (lights get lit up on them) but the iDrive menu says: no USB

Was wondering if anyone had any tips as to why this is happening.

Car info:
e60 LCI
MASK, used to have factory CD changer, then got official iPod retrofit kit at dealer (which sucked) and now have installed Dension gateway 500.

The iPod menu is accessible from the CD menu, like *CD1* *CD2* *CD3* *CD4* *CD5* *CD6*, each corresponding to Artists, Albums, Plylists, etc.

I use the iPod GW source for playing stuff.
Attaching the USB device still shows no USB

Maybe anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Incorrect Dension 500 install (connectivity) or something? Altho the guy who set it up said there is only one way to hook everything up and he has no idea why there is no USB being detected.

Check out these screenshots of my Display:

Thanks in advance.

Kuat, would you mind giving some more details about what sucked about the retrofit kit from the dealer. I am looking at the factory retrofit as well as the Dension and would be interested. Thanks!

!DO NOT! get the factory retrofit. Install the Dension 500, it's x1000 times better.

The original retrofit kit works only with iPod (Dension works with ipod and USB drives)
The original retrofit kit only shows a small list of files/albums/artists. I had a big collection of music on my iPod and it would only show up to the letter D (the rest couldnt be seen/played)
The original retrofit kit does not resume the music playback when you stop/start your car. So if you had a big file playing (for example some 60 min mix DJs like to put together) then once you exit the car and then turn it on again, the files would restart from the beginning (Dension 500 just resumes the playback from where you left on).

And i think it would cost you the same anyway.

And for those who don't have nether CD-changer, nor mp3. Do we just install it and then get it coded for mp3?

if you are not afraid of coding yourself, you can do the mp3 coding with NCSexpert.
