Hi,
I know this stuff comes up over and over but I have done a tonne of research and am simply running in circles with various contradictions on the forum over time. Of course, its a complex issue with software updates and so on changing the capabilities of our cars.
Currently, all I have is AM/FM/CD. CD is nearly useless since there is no MP3, who switches CD's every 20 tracks these days?! I'd like an aux in, even better direct ipod connection through idrive. USB might be cool too if I could access through idrive.
Though my car has L7, there is no CDC in the glovebox. I assume it was removed for some reason.
For the cost of software enabling the aux in (some people have had this done for $30-50) I can make myself a cable for dollars that will charge my ipod and connect the line out through the dock connector to the aux in terminals of the car.
Alternatively
I have a line on a dension gw500 for < $150. I understand to get this to work requires programming also - enabling mp3 etc? The contradictions I am running into is whether text will work. Some people claim that you need to control the music through the ipod - which is no better than me doing an aux myself. Some people claim that they were able to get full functionality. Any definitive answers please?

And I believe I have finally found it:

Apparently this can be done with coding for the oem ipod integration kit.
