There is an acutual sensor however correct? That is the info I am looking for - I understand it would need to be worked into the car system.

I was able to do some reading up on it. I ordered a couple so I'll check it out.

What makes you think our E60 is any different from an E46? All they are doing in that DIY is tapping into the wire which alerts the factory security system of a intrusion. When the shock sensor detects a shock, it will show either a 12v signal or ground at the wire which is tapped into the motion sensor. The factory security computer then sees this signal as a detection of motion inside the car and triggers the alarm. This is not any different from how any other alarm works. Infact, DEI makes a kit which allows for any aftermarket alarm to communicate with the E60 CCM through the can bus lines, this would essentially make adding an alarm almost plug and play.
