Dont do it Frank.....they're just trying to gouge you cause your driving a BMW. The price to sand, prep and paint a front bumper is the same if its a honda or a BMW.....i would say about $400-$600 range tops.
Agree, $1000 is insane. Maybe if you were repainting the whole kit.

I am in agreement with everyone. $1000 is just way too much for a repaint. I think 400-600 is fair value. I had my entire M-Tech kist painted for a little more than that. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

Frank, I just got an estimate today to get my front bumper repainted. Remove, Sand, Prime, Paint, Clear, Reinstall. Keep in mind this was an estimate for an insurance claim. I'm sure this would be cheaper if it were cash. This shop does 99% of all body work for one of the local BMW dealerships.

Body Labor 7.0hrs@$50.00/hr
Paint Labor 5.0hrs@$50.00/hr
Paint Supplies 5.0hrs@$30.00/hr
Body Supplies 3.6hrs@$2.00/hr

Grand Total $757.20
Thanks everyone for saving me some $. I'm going to shop around for a reasonable price. The place that gave me the initial quote is supposedly 2nd-ranked of high-end body shops here in Dallas. The 1st one just retired last month. I'll let you all know after I get a detailed quote from several places.

Thanks again! God I love this forum!

$1000?! That sounds absurd, I agree with Icey, $400/500 range sounds about right. BTW are you just running the front bumper or do you have the full kit? I'm debating if I should just get the front bumper for now and possibly the rest later. I do like the rear bumper how it looks now.
I'm just running the front M-tech bumper -- not the whole kit. From the price quote I've seen in this forum, it's not going to save you much by getting the rear later. Most of the cost of the kit leans on the front bumper. I've considered swapping the rear for something else, but other mods prevail for now.

I think any money you save under the $1000 should be divided equally amongst us for our consulting fees!

+1. A $1000 is way too much. They should do it for $400-$600 and use PPG paint. All the prep work should be included in this price too.
