Why not? And, you know what "they" say--lying by omission is still lying. But, really, I just don't see the point of hiding a car's designation unless one simply likes the debadged look better. I actually re-badge mine for $25. When E class owners see my "525"....they thought they stand a chance until I beat them to the exit and see their bewildered expressions
I love the clean look of a debadged car and thats my opinion on the matter...

I always debadge my cars. I think it looks better w/o badge. If I had a 545i/550i I would do it for the reason to not show off. In Sweden it's important to not brag in front of your customers. I know a guy who has a SL55 AMG, he drives a Peugeot 407 Diesel when he meets his customers..

Simple answer. Rebadge it so that it looks factory. Why? Well we restore 60's and 70's muscle cars, mainly Pontiac GTO's. They become worth a lot when they are frame off'ed and restored to FACTORY SPEC. And besides I agree with Don. Why would you want to conceal what your car is? That immediately screams body damage or repaint. I think it's stupid to debadge a car of this stature. No idea why so many people on this forum seem to want to do that

I say do whatever you feel is right for you, but if you decided to rebadge it, have the dealer do it for you because I've seen alot of people rebagde their car and when it's off it shows.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

Since your plates indicate that you are not in Europe where taxes are paid based on CCs, I can't see the purpose of debadging, unless of course, one is pretentious or "ashamed" of not having the 4.4L engine. It really is your call.
