I have a E60 520d sport. It says '520d) on the rear, and I think it looks really crap. How can I remove this without scratching/marring the paintwork underneath. Ideally I'd like to take it somewhere and get it done, so if anyone knows of anyone that does this in the london/oxford area then please let me know. If not I'll try and attempt it myself
Thanks
Thanks
Some dental floss, a hair dryer and few drops of a detergent wash will do the trick. You probably will need to get the area polished afterward, because the paint under the badge is probably a bit brighter than other parts on the trunk lid.

So I'm guessing you heat the hell out of the badge first then use the dental floss to gently pry away the badge. where does the detergent come in? Sorry for being naive, but when it comes to DIY I am rubbish
You got it right, the detergent comes in when you have removed the badge and you want to remove the glue residues.

Quite often just using regular polish (wax) on the sticky residue will lift it off. Best to wash first to remove any dirt though!

Yes, definitely something you can do yourself. Do not waste your hard earned money to pay someone for this. I did mine in the summer on a warm day and didn't need the hair dryer at all.
You will probably need it now though. Warm it up, pull the floss gently through the adhesive in a motion parallel to the surface, and voila! I also used goo gone to loosen up the adhesive after.
Oh, and your fingernail works wonders removing the adhesive! Be sure to clean, polish, and wax the surface after.
