V8 is too heavy, and not agile as I6. I think 535i would be an alternative choice for us here. However, carfreak, we both are unlucky that California does not want diesel to be here. WTH.

Wow, and all this time I considered you guys lucky !!

Four days ago I installed a ?Powerbox? from Mehrleistung.com and was very pleased, more power, smoother and seems to increase mpg a lot! But today it lost power and stops revving around 3500-3900 rpm, I don?t know why yet. After I ?disabled? the box, cars was almost as usual.

I have had a couple of tuning boxes and both died on me so I gave up and went the remap route, well worth it if you have someone local.

Also tuning boxes through the mpg readings out, so if you were getting 10L/km before I bet it is shpwing around 25% better if the bhp increase is 25%, so showing around 7.5L/km?

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed

Had mine done by www.e-maps.co.uk and can only confirm the findings already posted. More smile per mile.
Can't confirm any figures, as I didn't do timed runs yet and, honestly can't be tossed what the paper says, I have.

What I feel when driving the car, that's all I need.

Only pity is, that I didn't do it earlier.

According to BMW's UK website the 535d and 550 weigh the same.
Exactly right - both are 1735 kilos unladen - don't get me started on that top gear episode which compared the 535d to the 545i when Clarkson talked about the 'brick' in the engine bay of the 535d.

I had DMS back again today to redo mine and OH MY GOD! it's good to be back in the remapped car again!

After 3 weeks in the standard 535d you sort of forget just how much difference the remapped car is, and then you take it out on a damp road like an idiot! You put your foot down to overtake someone at 60mph the back end flicks out your heart skips a beat, you snap the car back in to a straight line again, grin like a small child on a nudist beach and rather than do the sensible thing and slow down you hit the accelerator! Before you know it you are doing 125mph and then you come to your senses!

The difference between stock and chipped? Un'fukin'real!!!!
