In-Dash Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet
My CCC died and instead of spending 2k on a used junk navigation system and am/fm radio I installed an android tablet in my dash. I did some minor cutting to the display housing and removed the glass. The tablet fits perfectly between the back and front pieces and can be easily removed with no scratches or mounting holes. The length is not exact and I am still looking for some plastic pieces to fill in the left and right sides... any suggestions would be appreciated. I wired the audio signal using the center speaker as it goes to the trunk of the car already, the power to the tablet runs behind the glove box and to the ac outlet under the passenger foot well. The outlet is only live with the ignition on and I downloaded an app called E-Robot that can configure the display to time out within 5 seconds of loosing power but never dim when powered up. I did however loose my backup sensors, the ability to reset my flat tire monitor and the ability to set the clock, but none of these features were worth 2k to me and the benefits of having the tablet make up for them. Also, the amp needed to be switched out and rewired but I was able to sell the old one for 500$ on ebay.

Thanks. The amp has 2 inputs, one has a Bluetooth adapter that my phone uses and
the tablet is wired to the other (used the existing center channel speaker wire as my audio out from the tablet since it's directly behind the tablet and goes straight to the trunk).

Very creative! do you remove it? What is keeping it in position?

Oh wow, creative thinking!
Now if it only has some kind of voice assistant that would be great, since now you can use iDrive knob to navigate, and reaching over to touch the screen while driving seems a bit of a stretch.
