I know it has only two plastic rivits (kind of) at the bottom... I was trying to pull them, but didnt apply too much force as didnt want to break them .
Thanks.
I took it out before cutting. The rivets may sit tight but you can get new ones from the dealer for few cents if you manage to break them .

BTW.. someone told me that you can get that plastic from BMW, with ski pass hole in the middle, and just change it out on your car (off course you will have to cut the things behind it)... but I was thinking it might come with a cover etc with it..

Any one knows about it?

Thanks.

Pretty expensive when you consider you can cut the hole yourself and get some rubber trim for a few bucks. But I understand wanting it to look OEM. There may be other options for integrating a sliding plastic door there.

So... I cut out the ski pass (except for the cosmetic plastic on top)... and the improvement is a lot.. even if I dont cut the top plastic, still I can feel that sound is finally getting into the cabin .
Will see if I cut the plastic, of find another solution for there..... for the time being, I left it there loose

Hi guys,
sorry to hijack this threat but I have one question, I about to do the cutting passthrough ski hole since my car does not have that feature. My subwoofer is a sealed box and the driver facing to the back so if I cut the hole out will I get more bass comes to the cabin or do I have to turn the sub facing direct to the cut out hole?
Attached is my current setting now and I have little bass to cabin unless I have to turn volume up loud.
Please any suggestion before doing my cut-out

I have a little different setup than you (one sub in one sealed box, driver side facing back), however; cutting out ski hole makes a HUGE difference

Facing to the back like your setup is delivered bass directly to the cabin through the ski hole that no doubt about it. but in my set up (reverse back) that I don't know how much the bass can be delivered through the cabin.

So when cutting the plastic for the ski pass, does the trunk carpet cut out as well? Or is there any way to cut just the plastic part and leave the trunk carpet intact?

I just installed a JL 8w7ae in the trunk of my 2008 535i.

The carpet behind the back rest is glued on to the plastic, so you will need to cut it.
