ok guys so i got the 08 535i with, ar design 3' downpipes catless, no secondary cat and a big muffler from umnitza. the question is if i put a cutout before my muffler will i really gain a lot of hp/ torque? i would assume 2-4 hp increase and loud turbo spool sound, but i do not know. has anyone done this before i have seen 335is with it, but they either have a cat somewhere or something not totally free flow. any help would be appreciated.

Mahalo,
Puna

In my experience with other turbo vehicles, open cut out actually hurts performance. And the noise is just stupid loud and annoying.

I have considered it for track days. Usual options would be to as close to downpipe as you can or as close to muffler as you can getting various levels of pressure relief, sound, and smell.

Have the cutout open when the SAT sport mode button is pressed could be fun.

No reason to think an open exhaust would ever be worse for a turbo engine.

I don't have experience with any that I could recommend. I would want an electric one that is capable of a variable opening of the valve so that the sound could be adjusted to preference.
