[quote name='subterFUSE' date='Jan 22 2005, 05:57 PM']My cupholders are not broken....

But they don't work.? No matter what I put in them, the drinks tip over and I end up driving with one hand on the drink and one on the wheel.

Its funny...?? the only time I put my SMG in auto mode, is when I've got a cup in the holder.... so I can hold the cup with one hand.

Freakin' retarded.

The dealer replaced my cup holder, as it did not open properly. After the replacement, I experienced exactly the same problems you guys are describing. I took it back to the dealer who then checked and found an update from BMW that directed them on how to adjust the retracting mechanism (they must have just cut/buffed a plastic piece). The problem has been corrected?.

No pics yet - its been too cold here to play around out doors. The car displayed 2 degrees F. this morning.

Here is a link to the UCII. Its not "officially" on the web site, but if you call, he will give you the link. http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/ucii.html
color options are the same

Sales advisor actually told they don't recommend we use the cup holders as they don't work very well.

They do look cool as they pop out but too bad they're worthless. Obviously it wasn't a deal breaker and just as obvious it wasn't a high priority for the BMW engineers. I 'spose they had their hands full with stuff like active roll bars, active steering, active cruise control, etc...
