I tried to make a U-turn and I did not make it all the way around without hitting the curb.
I heard the noise, and I said to myself "say it aint so."
Sure enough, a hugh rash on the wheel of the front passenger side. Those low profile tires offer little protection.

If anyone knows of a place in So Fla. that can repair a curb rash problem, send them my way.

OUCH. I hate it when that happens.

I've curbed a couple of 166s myself. I recently took one of my curbbed wheels (thanks to Mrs. Tachyon) to Wheels America and for $129 they made it like new again. One day turn-around.

Here's one near you:

sorry to hear that happened...
the 19" is really easy for curb rash, once i did a parallel park in a tight spot and i curb my rear wheels, i know how you feel
but i told myself things happen, and it's not too bad so i didn't fix it.
got any pix? i think i am too cheap to pay $129 to fix something that probably only you will notice at 5' away =P

This was a real dumb one too. Trying to do a U-turn where I ran out of road and ran up on the curb (no rush to complete the turn--I could have backed up).

Thanks for the referral to Wheels America. Good call.

Thanks to all for your sympathy.

It brings a tear to your eye when that happens, but glad to see members near you have been able to recommend a good company to get it sorted.

I've caught my M166s badly a couple of time now, so really should get the sorted out again. Any recommendations for the Frankfurt - Germany area?

It is easy to fix. I know something. As soon as I will fit the winter tyres set on the car I will take all 4 19" 166 rims to get painted. The most important is to use the right colour and it is the BMW Dekordilber A55.
