My Ride: 2004 E60 525d

Hi all, new member from Ireland here. I recently bought an 04 525D Saloon SE and am slowly bringing it up to the spec I want. So far I have:

- full sport bodykit fitted by dealer (prev owner done this)
- coilover suspension was fitted by prev owner, in process of removing and replacing with oem shocks and eibach pro kit. Have the rears done but not the fronts yet.
- Bought an M Sport steering wheel from an 06 car so will be modifying it as per the DIY on here for which Im massively grateful!

The above is pretty much sorted but Id like to do another couple of things and this is where my questions lie:

- I have electric (non heated) cloth seats and would like to fit half leather sport heats. If I get electric heated sport seats can I make the heaters work?
- Id also like the later climate controls on the dash, the ones Ive seen on ebay have all the same buttons as mine, are they swappable?

And lastly Ive read the front shocks are a bit of a pain to swap, any tips?

Thanks all, here is a quick pic:

Nice car!! Like the OEM 172 wheels...

I would get rid of the mudflaps as well.
You can swap the seats no prob...unplug the neg side of the battery though, to avoid errors on the idrive..
If your going with heated seats, you will have to replace the centre console in front of the gear leaver so you can operate the buttons. Probably you will have to rewire the connections to the seats, an reprogram the car, so it will "see" the heat functions...have no experience with this, but is seems doable..

As the AC units go...no idea if you can swap them...

Good luck and enjoy the ride!

Thanks, was hoping the heated seats would just work if I fitted the control on the dash as well, without reprogramming. Guess you cant do much on these without a trip to the dealer

LOL they will stay for now at least Bigger fish to fry.

- finish eibachs tomorrow (fronts)
- remap next week
- M sport wheel next week

So I found another topic on the heater controls and it seems they are not interchangeable which is a pity. Never mind.

Any info on the seat swap and retro fitting heated seat controls would be awesome though!

Hiya mate your car's looking good,i'm sure the sport's wheel from 09/05 onward's will not fit an 04 car but may be wrong, the climate control's will not work as it way too complicated.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the heated seat's working properly would cost you thousand's as you would have to buy and retrofit the loom/switches and source the seat's as well.

Found a guide on how to modify a post 05 wheel and airbag to fit an 04 car, it looks very doable indeed so Im going to give it a blast (if the damn thing ever turns up!).

Looks like heated seats (oem anyway) are a bust too, but Ill just get a sport interior and then either fit some aftermarket ones or just live with it. Plan to get the sport half leather so wont be just as cold in the winter.
