Greetings:

Did not ask the dealer to the chrome the wheels on my new Jet Black 545i...however, after seeing a similar car with chromed wheels I am thinking about having them done....can I get a better deal (i.e. cost) by going through someone other than my BMW dealer (i.e. in So. Cal, someone like a Wheel Warehouse)...any idea what it should cost to chrome 4 wheels--I think the dealer wants to charge $4K+ or something like that.

Ooops...actually the $4K I was looking at on the dealership lot must have been specially ordered rims rather than the standard 18" sport package rims.....I just called back dealer and they quoted me $ 1350 for all 4 (as part of a swap)...for the heck of it, I called one of the largest tire and rim distributors in all of So. California--Wheel Warehouse of Anaheim--and they quoted me $ 800 for all 4 (also, as part of a swap). Curious if it is still worth it to go with the chrome look on a Jet Black 545i...if it makes any difference, car was bought on a 3 year lease.

I would look at the Wheel Warehouse Ebay site. I think they had the chrome wheel swap for $600.00. That is for factory wheels. I'm considering the same thing, but I'm concerned about the wheels getting damaged taking off, and putting back on, the runflats.

Ask for Brian Archer, Wholesale Manager, at Wheel Warehouse....I received an email back from him and he quoted me $ 159.95 per chromed wheel as part of a swap...not a bad price. Plus, they can put the new wheels on while you wait.

Hey elchevere, If you get the wheels through the Wheel Warehouse post a followup. I would be interested in how they handle the run flat installation and balancing. Thanks!

I chrome my 530 rim about 6 month ago at http://www.oemrims.com/exchange.asp
total cost ne $500 cash. I had to paid for the rim-swap service at a nearby auto store.
They did a good job, I have no complain.
two month later, I got lower my car 1.4' with H& R spring.
the car look very nice and sweet.

good luck

Some good referrals here...I have used Grand Prix in Costa Mesa at the end of the 55 Freeway. I think I ended up getting new wheels there too.
