Hello All,
I drive a 2004 5 series, cold weather package, m54 engine and I'm coming up on 100k(still going strong).I thinking of doing a little of what I call "preventive maintance" this spring, and changing out my coilovers on the car. After reading various posts I need help on what brand is best for me. I really want the 'fresh the factory' ride, I don't want to lower the car, because I live in Chicago and the potholes are terrible here. So I think the adjustable coilovers/struts is a waste for me, so that's why I'm stuck. What's a durable, factory ride-like coilover/strut brand?

there is no coilover setup that is factory ride-like. they will always be harsher but can come close. if you want to lower your car and maintain that stock ride feel go with springs and struts. i'd recommend h&r/eibach springs with koni shocks.

What a good setup WITHOUT lowering the car.

And if you want to go with the coilovers, then the KW Street Comfort is an EXCELLENT choice for you!

What do those have to do with each other? Are you worried about the car bottoming out? If you go with aftermarket struts that rarely happens.

i feel that potholes are worse because of the low profile tires then the coilovers. with my stock suspension it hit hard on potholes no diffrent with the ksport coilover. what makes it shitty is the tires.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm good on the tires, so I'm going to go with the ksports.

hmmm so exactly how bad will the ride quality suffer even with the best coilovers?
