Thumbs up

I have been reading about this computer upgrade. "Is it worth it? " After all I have been reading that it increases your horsepower, but then give you problems electricaly. Then if you do somthign else it looses the upgrade, then you have to redo it again.......I have no problems, but i would like to upgrade. If it going to cause any, I would rather not.....please help with your opinions.

One of the main features of the ECU Remap is the Fuel Timing, which is key to more HP and Torque. Also, keep in mind that we have 93 Octane fuel for Super Unleaded, here in NY. In California, Super Unleaded is 91 Octane. If you go with a remap, make sure they know you use 93. It makes a difference. Believe it or not though, there are about 25 or so remaps they have to do throught the entire ECU. It's not just one or two remaps. Each flash/remap of the ECU takes about 8-9 minutes. So an entire remap of the ECU can take a few hours. Keep in mind you will also be carless for 2 days.

PS - I went with Singh Autosport, over Eurobahn and Powerchip. The two latter companies are both subsidiaries of Superchips UK. They do the exact same remap as Singh, but charge more, so that they can get a piece. Singh is independantly owned and operated, out of N. California. Cost was $500. Powerchip was the next cheapest at $590 ($50 coupon offered over on M5Board, which was extended to us. Normal price was $640). Eurobahn was $699.
