Default Comfort Access: cannot unlock the door

Hello guys.
I know there have been other threads and I did google them but I couldn’t find the answer still.
Just recently the comfort access (keyless entry) stopped working on the driver’s door. Other doors function well and actually I still can lock driver's door by touching the handle. So it’s only unlocking.
I called my technician earlier today and he told me the sensor is located not in the handle itself but some other module needs to be replaced.
I googled what’s there on ebay and found this part: 6957094 (Control unit passive go).
I’m guessing he was talking about this thing but it doesn’t really make any sense to me since everything else works except for the unlocking.
What would you recommend me to do to check if it’s the handle or the module problem? Because I don’t really want to spend money on something that will not 100% fix the issue. Technician said if it’s the module it is around €300-€500 + labor (I actually found it on ebay for about €50 but still).

You need a code reader that reads BMW specific DTCs.

Yup, thats what i figured but just checking maybe someone has had the same happen, i can’t understand that anything other than that could affect the lock but who knows? I’ll try to find a code reader and see

BMW DTC readers are not terribly expensive, some cost thousands but there are also basic ones for under $50.
