best intake setup for the e60s would be the RPI scoop with an aftermarket filter, a package is available with the BMC air filter. and many have removed the charcoal filter as well. we have the scoops in stock btw
That is a good setup, I have this too but don't know if it is the best set up
There are so many on the market now.

With the Gruppe M you get a tube that sucks the cold air from the front just like the RPI + the CF box with better air fillter.
So yes it is better but for a price

a scoop is basically an L shaped piece of metal that is screwed on next to the intake, it does not
work in an dynamic way,
i'm not sure if it really pushes a lot of air into the airbox, as if you are driving fast the air is
being pushed on the front of the car anyway, it sure looks good in red.

with the Gruppe M, it sucks the air in, RAPIDO, and you can hear it hissing
even when the car is stationary ,
towels will get sucked in if you aren't careful.

i don't have one, its all in Jap,
but here is one on a M3
http://m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=225002
i don't think its a sponsored dyno.

if you consider the engineering and the cost and weight of the cf do the maths
its not rocket science.
Gruppe M prepare for racing teams etc,. and are trusted to be fitted to ferrari, lambos etc,.

i think it is more about the sound and enjoyment!!!

While the Gruppe M sounds like a great device, so did the AFE intake. Until some dynos proved it was a power-robbing device.
