As aftermarket stuff is slowly coming out for the E60, I was curious if anyone has installed one?
Also, would you recommend one or not?

 

It's okay as long as you don't use the ones where you need to spray oil into the aftermarket air filter. The air mass and the oxygen sensors are very sensitive, once they get coated with this oils and it's very costly to replace them.

 

Maybe i will try the K&N filter.
I tried it before in the E46 and saved some fuel and the air intake improved a little.

 

Did you really notice a difference with the K&N filter in your E46? I installed it too but couldn't notice a difference except for the sound that the engine made when revving it really hard.

 

Thanks for the posts. I haven't put one on before, buty I have heard it improves performance a little bit. Do you know if it voids any part of your warrenty?

 

The previous one i had it installed my self.
No problem at all very easy to do it.
In what concerns to warranty i hadn't any problems and in fact i informed the dealer in the services not to change or clean my air filter as it was a special one.
I can say that the fuel comsumption decreased a bit and the sound was very cool.
