Here's a link to pics of an X5 ashtray non-smoker's insert. the E60 should be something like this.

oh man! i need one of those, anyone with the e60 non smoker option that can post a pic?
i dont smoke in the car and never will and to be honest this car has NO places to store things, if i place mi house keys under the central console they end up flying to my feet which is kinda dangerous so it would be cool if i could put them wherer the ashtray is.
that central storage area is definetly useless, it should at least be a little bit angled.

OK, I ordered the ashtray insert from this part number for my 545i, and received it today. It is actually almost exactly identical to the stock ashtray, except that instead of the hard, temperature resistant plastic it is lined with a more rubbery coating so that coins don't rattle as much (which they didn't for me anyway, because I had been using the ashtray for quarters already). It also has the non-smoking symbol because the rubber can't stand the heat of a cigarette, but otherwise is pretty much the same -- no more room or anything, and the cigarette loighter is not affected by this part. If the whole thing, including the lighter, can be replaced by a bigger insert, possibly with a light as suggested in one of the other posts here from a pic for the X5), then it must have a different part number. It also seems that replacing the entire insert with lighter must be more involved, as I don't see an easy way to get it out without removing the console there.

Pics attached (first is of the original insert)
