Hello, I am coming across some terms which I need to clarify.

I have come across the following terms and I know that here there are some guys who have expeirience or looked into these situations and hereby would like you to expand in detail the following terms.

A) OBC- On board computer;- is this the only computer in the car?
Coding- what is actually done to the computer? modification of the software or the commands?
C) Re mapping- setting the engine parameters?
D) Module
E) Software update.

perhaps somebody can expand on these and explain how these are carried out.

The OBC is not the only computer or module for your car. I can't say how many and tell you much more, but there's many computers on your car that manage all kinds of components, systems and functions.

When they do new coding or software updates it's much like updating software on your PC or iPod. Basically, more efficient processes are found, or fixes for bugs commonly found on the car.

Re-Mapping would involve modifying the engine parameters such as ignition advance, fuel and timing. Only minimal gains will be achieved unless significant engine parts have changed - not intake, exhaust etc.
