I want to get the mirrors and windows coded to my car so they roll up and fold in/out when the car is locked/unlocked. I personally think paying $70 for this is a huge rip off....so I wanted a cheaper alternative....while searching I found an awesome post by a gracious member on E90 who gives you all the details you need for coding your car....

I wanted to bring that thread to 5series.net so we can also start this and hopefully get many good results...From what I have been reading you need a windows based computer....some basic hardware...and about $30-$100 for the cable that you need.

I have a Macbook running OSX installing windows on it later so can start some of this.....NONE OF THIS CREDIT GOES TO ME EVERYTHING GOES TO xxxjecxxx6 from E90post.....! He is a college student low on cash but he is providing all us a service and would appropriate donations...

Here is the original thread at E90post by xxxjecxxx6. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451145

Finally here we go!

This assumes that you are using an OBD port, to use other adapters you will have to edit ediabas.ini

all files needed are in ncsexpert.rar and DIY is a pdf as a separate file! enjoy!

Alright guys anyone of you interested in doing this? I know I am....so far the cable you can get on Ebay for $36...or pay $112....the Ebay cable not sure if it works or not....especially not sure if it works with our cars but I am willing to try.

You also need a serial adapter for your laptop which should not run more then $10 at Newegg.

Ok.... Let me get this straight, paying somebody $70 to code your car is a rip off when the cable itself cost $100-$150. How are you saving money???

I remember when a member from NY made a thread about a guy named Alex was doing coding for $75 and saying Patryk was a rip off for charging $120 and how Alex fee was more reasonable. I guess you want these guys to be charging $30?

The information about self coding is been out for months, Check out Blood's and benAnd threads to name a few. I have the cable and software installed in my laptop and guess what once the coding is done i have had no use for the cable. I have it for the CIC retrofit that i did.

Big respect to guys like Blood and benAnd because they like to DIY not because theyre trying to be cheap.

Chears nelson, I have big respect for patryk he know his stuff but it`s a great feeling when you can figure some thing out for yourself and it works first time.
