Hi folks,
Anybody out there have any clutch problems? My 530d has done 168,000 miles now and i am getting a rattle from the clutch my mechanic is not sure if it is the clutch or the flywheel.
The dealer quoted me ?480, which is not bad considering the clutch is ?250. I hate the stealers but at ?230 labour and a courtesy car and the fact that they phoned today and said they would do it for ?440. I booked it in cause my mechanic reckons it needs some specialist tools.
One big problem though, if its the flywheel it costs ?660 for the part. So if they try that one then i will be getting my mechanic to inspect the old one.
So does anyone have any experience with any clutch/flywheel problems?

cheers

few months ago i have some clunking noise (like bouncing of a spring) and the dealer replace some spring mechanism and it doesn't do that anymore. but my car is only 40k miles, so may be a different problem from you...
