So my white leds finally arrived today, so I am planning to do the cluster mod tomorrow.
I went out to Staples today to pick up a pack of Sharpies. Originally I was thinking to just get red and paint it like everyone else's, but then, I thought... well, maybe other color would look cool.
I took a pic (iphone pic) of the colors I've got. I thought about dual colors (same color for mph and tach, and same for the bottom needles...) but I am not sure that would look good.
What do you guys think? Obviously if I go with a lighter color, I can potentially color over it, not sure.
Also, if I don't color the needles, I am assuming they would be white like the leds?

Dont use any other color! because once you paint the needles, there's no undoing. I went through it with another customer and he regretted using blue. It relaly didn't go well with it.
You also cannot color over it. Trust me on this. Just go for red. Mainly because there are 4 small LEDS behind each needle. They are amber color and I have yet to find out which type of LED is this. it is 6 times smaller than the LEDS used for the gauge.
Last thing, if you dont color the needles, the speedometer and the RPM will be red automatically and the gas and fuel consumption will be washed out red / white.
Swap out the LEDS first, then put the needles on and you can see for yourself.
Good luck and you'll love the mod.

Haha, so it sounds like red might be the only sensible choice humm?
Originally I thought about using the dark purple-ish one, 3rd one from the top on the bottom.
I thought that might be cool and unique... but if the speedometer and tach already have red tint to it, I guess that might not work out well.

Ta da! I might have to open it up and color the very bottom of the little needles (gotta color all the way down past the visible needle part I guess)... will have to see how much of that little white bothers me =)

Yeah, originally, I thought I might try it anyways, as I am thinking I can just use alcohol to wipe it off if it was bad. But then I got lazy, and said screw it, lol.
