HAS ANYONE SEEN THESE FITTED ON A E60 AS A EXTRA OR ORDERED THEM FROM ACCESSORIES LOOK GOOD IN PICTURE OF E60 535 SPORT BOOKLET SEEM TO BE A FINISH TO THE CARBON BLACK ..
HAVE SEEN THEM ON EBAY FOR 250 POUNDS IS THAT A GOOD PRICE
ALSO ON EBAY A ALL BLACK FRONT KIDNEY GRILL WITH FITTED PICTURES.

My personal opinion is that they're really ugly, but, as has been said many many times here and elsewhere, "to each his own".
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But I think the general consensus you'll find here is that they're kind of low-class.

And here, they're popular in the sport import/compact (e.g., Civic, etc.) segment, which is another reason that some people frown on them. The same group of people who install fake "xenon" headlights, fake hood pin posts, neon lights under their cars, use blue or green turn signals, and generally look like complete retards.
I suppose if you do it tastefully, it could give some vehicles a unique look.

You're right, it's probably more of a regional thing, even in the US. One reason we don't see them a lot here is also that the BMW clear taillamps don't have US DOT approval.

....though i do not like the complete clear look, they are actually not clear (white)lights...they light up with the same colors as the 'normal' look, ie, at nite they are red and the turn signals are amber, it does loook ok at nite, but during the day i do not like them
