Do you know what would be required if you only have the basic A/C controls/unit?

This is awesome! I don't have an E60 yet but I am a computer programmer and knowing you can do stuff like this is great!

Can you just do all the software upgrades without changing the hardware? I don't really care for the HD screen but I would like to get the newest software and change somethings (windows with the key fob!). Also where can I buy the bus adapter is it just like a OBD II to USB adapter?

Thanks for the write up!!

If you just want the new interface, there is a guy who has written software that can run off a car PC that looks like the new idrive. He has also used the idrive CAN BUS to get the mouse moves etc.

Ill be waiting for your phone calls John You wont have no problem doing this mod, its a lot easier than the LCI headlight and taillight retrofit.

You better put this mod in top of your list for your M5!!!

Quick update Guys: I received the bottom trim and navigation map disk from my dealer earlier this week and will be installing it this weekend. I will also video taping the installation of the CIC retrofit from beginning to end.

Also got my new toy. For those car audio junkies, the critically acclaimed JBL MS-8 DSP is in my hands . If anybody interested in getting one, let me know.

I'm 100% positive that you can get it done in less than 20 minutes. The only part that's not P&P is when you have to rewire the CID. You have relocate 4 wires that goes behind the old CID to another connector for the new CID. That only take 2 minutes. It's the same concept as when we had to rewire the lci headlights but we only dealing with 4 cables.
