Hi, nice car
I think you have? a problem, with the power test.? they start it, to high in rotation,? they should test, from arround, 1750rpm,because the torque, should have is max, before 3000rpm, and not at 3000rpm.
don't you agree???

I understand your point, and I agree it wasn't what I was expecting the graph to look like. However it appears it was started at around 1000rpm? See my comparisons with the DMS demonstrator - any thoughts?

Just for interest sake, I would like to see mine on the rolling road.

How much would that cost (roughly) - I am in North Hampshire UK

It cost me ?70 for two runs. It would be cheaper on a rolling road day with other cars - could be around ?30-?40.

I'm shocked - Could it really be so that our 535dA's have 295 HP? Crazyyyyyy

The owner of the rolling road (friend of Rob from DMS) is convinced so. I'm waiting to see the results with the DMS box to compare. Would love to compare another standard 535d's chart to see - I'm amazed that it all appears at once just short of 3000rpm!

Clearly that isn't what actually happens in your car on the road - it's just the way the run was done - badly - unless you really DO have no power under 3k - but I'm sure that isn't the case.

I'm certainly confused - this rolling road is a good friend of Rob's from DMS and is where Rob got his 535d on the dyno. Any ideas what would have been done wrong by the operator to produce this result - and why it was consistent (the steep incline) from one run to the next (engine and dyno obviously switched off inbetween). The dyno had been serviced two weeks prior.

I'd ask Star themselves SG - obviously both cars are auto, looks like they were both in the same gear... so must have been some difference in the way the operator did the run?

Got the DMS rechip done this afternoon - the difference is striking! Clearly superior to the speed buster tuning box. Going back on Friday to get it rolling roaded again - will post results here once done. Will also discuss with Jim the previous result - it doesn't make sense.

Well, would it? We tried to do that test in the UK, but no 545i owners showed.... I think it would be *really* close... maybe next time

Ok, so I took the car back to Star Performance for a re-run. Results are slightly down on the DMS demonstrator, but for the following reasons;

1. I'd just driven for 3/4s of an hour - and the car went straight onto the rollers. DMS's car had been sitting for two hours before it went on (it was a rolling road night for japanese cars funnily enough!). It was also a cold February night. This could account for the difference in peak power and torque.
2. The DMS graph is more gradual to peak power than mine because it was the first time the owner (Jim) of Star Performance had run a 535d and was concerned about it jumping the rollers. He recalls distinctly pressing the accelerator gradually - whereas with mine as he knew the car by now he just planked the throttle to the floor
3. This rolling road was calibrated 3 weeks ago now - I saw the certificate and it said to plus or minus 1.5%. This could account for my first run having less power (323.5) than the 2nd (328) but more torque (485lb/ft compared to 481lb/ft).

Anyway, the only way we can really know for sure is if someone else gets there 535d on the rolling road and posts the results. Clive?
