I've booked in to get the DMS remap fitted to my car instead of the tuning box currently fitted. I just feel it will be easier not having to remove the box all the time the car goes anywhere near the garage, and saves me having to find a place for it where it will not get too hot (which is the problem I had at the ring last weekend).

Anyway DMS mentioned the rolling road they use is a friend they trust in Fife, Scotland, called Star Performance. So I thought I'd get the car rolling roaded there (if DMS trust them thats good enough for me) both as standard and with the tuning box. I'll then return after having the DMS box fitted and compare all 3 results.

The results were interesting. The speed buster box performed as originally advertised for the power - 325 bhp, but the torque was actually 470 lb/ft (637Nm) up 17Nm from advertised. Interestingly enough Speedbuster now advertise the box as only giving 313bhp - not sure what the story is there.

However standard was the biggest shock. It produced 560Nm (412lb/ft) torque which is as advertised by BMW, but the bhp was 295 instead of 272!! I was dubious at first, but I was assured the rolling road had been calibrated two weeks previously and the owner mentioned he was not surprised, he had seen this before mostly with VW diesels producing more than advertised.

I'd be interested to hear any thoughts or comments. Below are the two graphs, standard first:

Just for interest sake, I would like to see mine on the rolling road.

How much would that cost (roughly) - I am in North Hampshire UK

dont forget to post the results once you get the remap. I would be very interested to hear how the car compares in everyday driving as well.

I'm shocked - Could it really be so that our 535dA's have 295 HP? Crazyyyyyy

Hi, nice car
I think you have a problem, with the power test. they start it, to high in rotation, they should test, from arround, 1750rpm,because the torque, should have is max, before 3000rpm, and not at 3000rpm.
don't you agree???

DMS kindly faxed me through the chart for their demonstrator. Obviously once I've got mine fitted, I'll go back and get the same test done on my car.

A very unscientific comparison of my standard curve compared to the DMS curve, using photoshop to join the two. Very interesting - It would be great to see other results at the Dyno - anyone else with a 535d got charts to share?

Speedbuster (colour) versus DMS - bear in mind this isn't fair because they are different cars. Once I get my DMS chip fitted I'll post fairer results.
