I have experience with this as I have a BMW factory TV tuner in my E39 that was reprogrammed so that you can watch tv while driving.
The system advertised in the ebay link above and on the seller's Website for E60 is NOT a tv tuner but rather an RGB unit. What this means is that it will allow you to connect a DVD player and watch movies, but you will NOT be able to watch live television. In order to do that you will need the actual BMW TV tuner part that is only available outside of the US , and then find an aftermarket company that has figured out how to disable the software that does not allow you to see the TV picture while driving.
I hope that helps you in your decision. I personally am going to wait to get the actual tv tuner.

Can you add yourself to the list in the SoCal meeting thread?
I'll make a list with members who attend the meeting and confirm with them thru PM later on.
Thanks.
Sorry for hijacking the thread

Hamann has a module what allows watching while driving for the E60 with bus nav. They are working on a module for the nav pro cars. It will very soon be available...
Or you can get a module like the ones from freischaltmodul.de. They have two different ones, one RGB to add DVD or whatever, and one with built in TV tuner and input for DVD or whatever...
But that's over here in Germany...

Hey boys and girls,
Guess what i just got a return email frmo navwithtv the module runs 499.99 and they informed me that it works with any non nav e60's as well. IF anybody is interested let me know i want to ask them if we can get a discount on some type of a group buy.

Iceman,
What is the difference between the bus nav and nav pro? Do you know what we have here in the US? I definately want to get my hands on one from the Hamann, I guess I will have to fly over to Germany and do it personally.

Hi Ivan
1) If the car has Nav it will only show up on the bigger part of the screen. This also applies to Nav. The Nav can only be displayed on the bigger part of the screen. This was setup by BMW not US.
2) The module only has 1 input. If you need more you can use a video switcher.
3) We currently use a wired FM modulator for the sound. It plays perfect. There is currenty no Aux adapter for the E60.
4) The price of $499 is the best around. You will see that if you shop around the competion charges $650. We will beat an advertised price. If you can get a better price and prove it, we will beat it.
Feel free to call me at 718-763-7367
Thanks Dominic
