Use a screwdriver to pry the welds loose.
better to use a razor blade, as that will give a clean cut.

Interesting ... never had this issue. I've had mine off for quite some time now.
And she's been in the dealer for service several times since the removal.
Same for me no issues....and she growls...!

This mod is even for those with em, well, smaller engines. I took mine out. I also noticed an increase in engine growl, which even for one of the smallest E60 engines, still sounds amazing. Not feeling the performace as much, but that's probably due to the fact I never really drove my car hard before the modding began

Also, no check engine, no errors. No idea where that came from. DO IT!
For reals? I saw this peviously, but for some reason thought it was a V8 thing only.

... After a few minutes I asked him his professional opinion on charcoal filter removal and if it really did anything to improve HP. He leaned back in his chair, smiled and said "you just found out about that?" ...
Now that a BMW tech corroborates the charcoal filter theory, I wonder if German delivery 545/550s have the charcoal filters as well. If they do NOT, I think that may explain the 8 hp difference in horsepower ratings between US (325) and German (333) spec 545s that I always wondered about... Just a thought.
