I have a 2004 545 with 18inch wheels. I'm interested in taking these rims off and putting on a set of 17 inch (7 spoke BMW rims from a 1997 528). I want to do this for two reasons; the 17 inch rims have just been re-done and look great, and also because I have two sets of new 235/45/ZR17 Mich tires. My question is when I put the 17 inch tires on the car, there is some rubbing on the backside of the rim. Will a wheel spacer or adapter fix the rubbing?

Well yes and no... it depends... Is it jsut one wheel or are like both rears rubbing or both fronts rubbing if its jsut one wheel rubing then theres a problem with the wheel and I would doubt that the offest on the wheel would be off cause they are BMW rims plus the other will have worked so in that case the rim could possibly be bent... but anyway yeah if they are and its not bent then spacers will def get the job done...

Thanks Hamann5;
I only tried one wheel (left front), but it was obvious that it was the size of the rim.
