I am not sure if it fit in my car, but because of the opportunity , i decide risk. And i buy it.

Only a guess here I on my part, but I would assume the player should work, if anything however the memory buttons (1-6) might not work. I guess it would really depend on how the CD player communicates with the i-drive. If the CD player acts as a stand alone devide when it communicates with the rest of the system then it all should work, but if the CD player is dependant on other items then the memory buttons might not work.

Again, only a guess on my part, but Id be willing to bet if the plug in the rear is the same with the same amount of wires, it will probably work with no issues.

It will probably fit "mechanically" but may require some wiring adaptation and dealer coding in order to work properly. It will be a nice upgrade to your '04 if you can get it working properly. That said, this is the place to get help and advice!

Good luck and keep us updated on your progress!

All new cars in '07 (maybe earlier) can play MP3's, i think it was done sometime in late 06 from what Ive read on the forums. However that being said, again I dont know if this is a function of the player itself or not. I would again also assume this is also a function of the idrive and there probably will be some sort of software upgrade required I am sure.

im sure some else with experience in this swap might help

Hi peterm

I have just wrote a long replay to your thread , but it seem's to have got lost in "cyberspace" , but no , your are not the first to try this "swap" of a LCI M-ASK to a pre. LCI model.

You will find out it is not "just" so easy a thing to do , soory made , the wirring is the same ! , no you can NOT code it in your pre. LCI e60/61, any coding to this M-ASK have to be done in a LCI model !.

If you try to code it in your pre. LCI model , you will loose memory key function as well you will risc to loose sound , so with other word's if it work's when to "hook" it up in your car , DONT try to code it in it !!!,

Also you trim around the M-ASK won't fit , and the one ( from a LCI ) that fit's , do then not fit around the Klima botten's , but this you can "go around" by "clone" a LCI trim with your old trim.

This was the short story of my privious replay.

Happy NEW YEAR to your all , here from Denmark

You got the guy to lower his price on e-bay? Nice job. Too bad it didn't work out.
