Hi,

I am going to get my 05 530i in the end of November. I would like to add an aftermarket MP3 changer to the stereo system. Do anyone know that whether there is MP3 changer and/or cable is available out there ??

If there are, is this an easy task to do ? Do I need dealer to activate the changer or some sort ? I know that 3 series do not need dealer's intervention to install an aftermarket CD/MP3 changer.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

Hey well this is what it comes down to do you nessasarily want it to be after market faceplate? Cause if you look in the BMW E60 manual you will notice that in the entertainment section that there will soon be avaiblie a MP3 CD changer so I say wait for that and don't even wory about anything...

My dealer showed me that an AUX audio input can be installed so you can plug anything into it. I'm not sure though... I thought there was an AUX audio input in the car already standard. Guess not. Someone with more clue will chime in. Rudy?

AFAIK there is no audio/aux input in the car. But it can be installed.

Iceman, do you have any more info about this? I am waiting since day 1 for an aux input but until now the only option is a crappy FM modular, so if you know something more than I please tell me.

I asked my dealer for those parts and he said they are for the rear entertainment package ONLY. Since it's not out yet he can't order them. I'm having big fights with him and BMW...

Hi Ching-Ho Cheng:

I bought my new e60 530i last April, and it is one fine BMW. the only thing it is too high tech for me, and I paid my BMW dealer here $750.00 to install me a factory BMW six disc changer and it works great! (I could have bought an 3rd party unit for $550.00, but it would had never worked right on this factory Chris Bangle unit! (BMW has got it down to a science working with the iDrive)

I wish you the best, but I would stay with BMW OEM everything for these high tech e60s!
