have an 08 LCI with retrofitted OEM NBT ID EVO 5.0/6.0 (from G30), so just know that it can be done. I can provide pictures later if you are interested.

Just wondering if there's any consensus what units have good quality and are durable? Any experience longer than a year would be great. Thanks.

I’ve been using the Mr12Volt system over a year and really like it with my CIC. They have released firmware updates which I appreciate. Very reliable and I run wireless CarPlay all the time in it.

I just bought an Android unit with a 12.3" display from Aliexpress. I know that you have to use the AUX to get the audio working, but a long time ago, I connected a phone using the AUX to play some music, and the quality was horrible. In fact, those old FM Bluetooth transmitters provided better audio quality.

I have the iPod retrofit in my E60, which has a Bluetooth 'dongle' connected to it that I use to stream music from my phone.

So my question is: Does anyone who has installed these Chinese Android units know if there is a way to use Bluetooth to stream audio instead of connecting via the AUX? If not, would splicing the AUX from the android unit and connecting direct to the pins to the quad-lock would help on the quality at all? I have some extra pins for the quad-lock laying around, so no splicing on the quad-lock, just re-pin I would say

I don’t think any of the Android units do that. However, the Mr12Volt passes a perfect digital signal over the MOST optical bus so it is lossless.

I bought the Andream unit for my e61 about two years ago and swore that if I ever got another e61 then that would be one of the first things I do...well I bought another one two weeks ago and after titling in my name, I purchased another Andream unit...plan is to install this weekend along with all the "new to me" maintenance (fluid changes, expansion tank, oil cooler lines, OFHG, etc.)
